Park East in May is not PensaPride in June

If someone said “see you at Pride” and did not name a street, ask. One gathering is sand, sun, and a permitted stretch of Park East on Memorial Weekend. The other is Saturday at the Pensacola Interstate Fair Expo Hall on Mobile Highway. We are going to keep the names separate on purpose.

1. Memorial Weekend LGBTQ beach party — Park East

Dates we can source for 2026: May 21–24, 2026, at Park East, Pensacola Beach. A Pensacola News Journal piece syndicated on AOL (fetched Aug 26, 2026) put all Memorial Weekend Pensacola events at Park East, about two miles east of Portofino Island Resort. That is the town beach, not Navarre, not the Fairgrounds.

The same write-up pointed to tickets on Eventbrite and more information at johnnychisholm.com. It listed nightly named parties and a range of 2026 ticket and parking-pass prices. We are not reprinting that price table. Eventbrite numbers move, the weekend is already past as of this stamp, and this site is not the box office. If you are looking up a future year, use the organizer — not a screenshot of us.

Rules the PNJ/AOL piece attributed to the beach that weekend (confirm on-site signage; the permit is not our ordinance):

• You may begin occupying the permitted area at 7 a.m. May 21. Tent frames then. Canopy covers and floors come off when you leave at day’s end.
• Pop-up canopies without sides; canopies next to each other or at least seven feet apart. No guy-wires.
• Chairs, tables, ice chests, solar generators: off the beach at day’s end. No fossil-fuel generators, including in lots or roadside. No open flames / charcoal. No RVs along the main road. No portable toilets, pools, or roping off spots. No reserving space before the permit starts.
• No pets. No glass. No sleeping or camping on the beach at night. No walking on vegetated dunes.

That last line should sound familiar. It is the same species of rule as Santa Rosa County’s Navarre Beach list: day use, pack it out, do not treat the sand as a campsite. See camping on Navarre Beach if your group thought Navarre was the cheap overflow bedroom. It isn’t legal on the county sand either.

2. PensaPride — June 13, Expo Hall

Official page, checked Aug 26, 2026: Saturday, June 13, 2026, 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Pensacola Interstate Fair Expo Hall, 6655 Mobile Highway, Pensacola, FL 32526. PensaPride describes an inclusive festival — artists market, live music, performances, local cuisine. User-facing copy on this site: all-ages. That is a hall, inland, on a Saturday. It is not Park East.

We did not find a public ticket price on the homepage to reprint. Vendor/performer/volunteer windows on that page were already listed as closed when we looked. Use pensapride.org.

Packing, heat, gear

Park East / Memorial Weekend is a Gulf beach in late May. Heat, glare, a long walk from wherever you are allowed to park, and a canopy rule that already told you to skip the walled tent. Wagon. Water. Low shade that can come down at day’s end. Earplugs if you are sensitive to a dance setup. Pack out everything, including the “we’ll grab it in the morning” idea — morning is how citations happen.

PensaPride is June heat in a parking lot, then indoor hours. Comfortable shoes, water for the walk from the car, a layer if Expo Hall A/C is aggressive. You do not need a beach wagon for Mobile Highway. You might still want Picaridin if you are standing outside.

Either way: this is someone else’s community event. Take pictures of your people, not a safari of strangers. Spend money with the vendors who are actually there. Leave the dunes and the wildlife alone.
